Zetta Genomics have launched their SaaS-based Annotation and Variant Stores products on AWS as an alternative to AWS HealthOmics products.
AWS announced that, starting November 7, 2025, it will no longer accept new customers for its Variant Stores and Annotation Stores, though existing customers can continue to use these services as usual.
What that means for New HealthOmics Customers
Direct access to Variant/Annotation Stores is no longer available, so any AWS partner solution that depended on creating new variant stores through HealthOmics will need to pivot. This could mean:
- Onboarding delays: New users cannot spin up native HealthOmics stores directly, which could slow initial deployments.
- Potential cost implications: Alternatives may have different pricing models than HealthOmics’ managed stores.
- Customization opportunity: More flexible or specialized workflows than HealthOmics’ default variant store may be available, but this requires more setup and validation.
AWS HealthOmics Customers will likely need to offer alternative architectures, which we have been made a recommended partner by them. Zetta Genomics, we developed XetaBase, which implements a high-performance Variant Store and Annotation tools that are available as SaaS products.

When considering your genomic analysis, does your solution provide:
