Last week, our team had the incredible opportunity to attend BioTech X Europe, a premier event that brings together the brightest minds and innovative companies in the biotech industry. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as we explored cutting-edge technologies, engaged in thought-provoking discussions, and networked with industry leaders. It was an insightful experience, full of fresh ideas and new conversations that we can’t wait to bring back to our own work.
Join us as we share some of the key takeaways and highlights from this fantastic event!
Showcasing Our Product Suite: A Complete Bioinformatic Operating System
We have always believed that the data we specialise in deserves a comprehensive bioinformatic operating system, designed to encompass the diverse ways researchers and biotech professionals handle data.
That’s why we have recently launched support on XetaBase for custom tools and workflows, through the integration of Nextflow, along with built-in Jupyter Notebooks. With a powerful computing engine and a flexible multi-omics data management system, users can now explore and perform analysis like never before.
The team had the perfect platform at this conference to demonstrate these additions. With more than 20 demos given face to face they could show XetaBase is a fully integrated platform that streamlines everything from data management to advanced analysis, all in one place.
This system is built for scalability, adaptability, and precision, making it a go-to solution for modern bioinformatics needs and that’s something we really got to present. It was great to be in a space where we can discuss that we’re more than a variant database!
“With the addition of these new features, XetaBase has evolved into a comprehensive bioinformatics ecosystem, empowering our clients to expand and customise their analyses without limitations. I’m excited to see how they leverage these capabilities to continue to push the boundaries of genomics.”

Launching Our New SaaS Model
A major topic for us was being able to announce a major shift in how we deliver our solutions: the launch of our new Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model. This flexible, cloud-based approach offers unparalleled accessibility and convenience, allowing users to tap into our powerful tools from anywhere, at any time. With our SaaS model, we’ve removed the barriers of complex infrastructure and lengthy installations, so you can focus on what really matters—advancing your research and discovery, and clinical workflows.
“Our new SaaS model will ensure clients with projects of any size and from any industry can easily access and deploy our powerful technology. From small companies or large organisations, we have a solution tailored to your needs!” Ignacio Medina, CEO.
Whether you’re a startup, in academia, a hospital or an established biotech firm, our scalable SaaS platform is designed to grow with you, providing the agility and support you need in today’s fast-paced industry. Stay tuned for our official launch and more information.
High praise for the programme
An amazing talk by Hie Lim Kim from Nanyang Technological University Singapore , highlighting key discoveries from the GenomeAsia 100K project. She showed the challenges of analysing diverse populations, diving into how environmental factors can shape our genomes and influence health outcomes.
Kate Witkowska shared an insightful update on Genomics England’s achievements, highlighted remarkable research publications, and unveiled exciting future opportunities.
A fascinating panel discussion, chaired by Quin Wills, with Caroline Lustenberger, James Duboff, Raghib Ali OBE, and Kaja Zarakowska on where we are and aren’t seeing wins in population and clinical genomics and why.
Great insights from Raghib Ali OBE! He shared an update on the rapid progress at Our Future Health UK Health in their bid to recruit 5 million patients across the U.K. This resource of data will aim to drive translational research and development, estimate participant disease risk and identify patients eligible for further studies or clinical trials.
We’re energised by the connections we’ve made and the exciting conversations that took place throughout the event. It’s always inspiring to engage with such a forward-thinking community, and we’re eager to continue those discussions with the incredible people we met.
We’re already looking forward to next year’s BioTech X and can’t wait to see how the industry continues to evolve!
